Here, we have a very different and interesting perspective of life. The life of a Sailor!
We encourage you to replace "sailor" with your own self and notice how the dangers and difficulties are so similar in comparison!
"A man who doesn't sail till all dangers are over isn't a sailor and must never be put to sea."
A sailor is a person who faces all dangers and risks with a smile on his face and an open heart in the same way how he sees his loved one. Sailors leave all their memories behind and join the sea to earn their bread and butter with all the possible risk and sometimes even death.
A sailor never says no to go on board. If he does then he shouldn't ever be allowed to get back to the sea. When on a nine month journey,a sailor feels like he's on a floating island wherein the room given on the ship becomes his own personal bedroom and he carries on with his journey without any regrets.
"The tides do not command the ship but a sailor does".
A sailor sets his life at sea not only with the risk of dying, drowning or abandoning the ship but also with the danger of being tortured by pirates. When sailors fight against attacking pirates, they fight without any arms or ammunition. After the crisis, they stand brave, wear a smile on their face and say "we did it" rather than "I did it". Those are the true and modest words of a sailor. They are never selfish. A sailor waits to kiss the land that he belongs to. No life would ever match that, would it?
A sailor is a man who doesn't think how hard he can hit but how he can get hit and still move forward. The life of a sailor and his destination is unknown: today on land, tomorrow at sea; today in Poland, tomorrow in Iceland. Life on board a ship is easy to talk about but difficult when it comes down to living the real thing. Sailors treat the ship as their own child for nine months just as a mother loves and cares for the baby in her womb.
"A calm sea never makes a good sailor".
Sailors expect the best but are prepared for the worst. A sailor can't adjust the wind but he can adjust the sail and never let go of his ship till there's no hope of saving the ship and getting it to port. Sailors experience fear and beauty both at the same time. Thus, a sailors life, full of danger, adventure and thrill, is an admirable one.
" Any fool can carry on the sail, but a wise man knows how to shorten sail in time" -Joseph Conrad
